Fire permits are required during the bushfire season (now known as the Bush Fire Danger Period. The season can vary based on conditions prevailing at the time, so please ensure you check the NSW RFS website for the most up to date information. Fire Permits help ensure that fire is used safely. A permit sets out the rules around how a fire is prepared, lit, monitored and maintained, and lets firefighters know when you are conducting burning activities on your property.

Please Note: For anyone wanting to light a pile burn, you must first apply for a fire permit from the RFS, then logon and complete the application (including the Permit No.) to the Hawkesbury City Council via their website click here for more information.

Before you Burn make sure you have:-
- Been issued a Fire Permit by the RFS (in the Bush Fire Danger Period)
- Gained environmental approval from Hawkesbury City Council
- Notified the RFS of your approval from Hawkesbury City Council
- Notified all adjoining landowners/occupiers
- Checked to make sure it’s not a Total Fire Ban Day.
